Cool is a small incorporated town in western Parker County, on US 180 about eleven miles west of Weatherford. It took its name, so the story goes, because settlers found it ran cooler than the country around it — the post office opened in 1906, the town voted on the name in the late 1940s, and it incorporated after 1960.
For us it’s the simplest town on the list to work in, because it sits on the road we already drive. That matters more than it sounds: the difference between a remodel that gets finished and one that stalls at ninety per cent is usually how easy it is for the crew to come back.

How did the town get that name?

It’s a small town. Will you take a small job?
Yes. We’re on that road anyway, which makes Cool one of the easier places for us to get to twice — once to do the work, once to finish the details properly.
